Calling all IBPOC opera artists in Canada: we want to hear from you!
Amplified Opera, in partnership with Tapestry Opera, is inviting all IBPOC-identifying (Indigenous, Black, Person of Colour) opera artists in Canada to join them for a series of private discussions on:
Tuesday, June 30 at 4:00 PM EDT;
Saturday, July 5 at 2:00PM EDT; and
Thursday, July 8 at 7:00 PM EDT.
Today we are pleased to announce that we’ve added two new faces to our co-founding team: mezzo-soprano Marion Newman, and tenor Asitha Tennekoon. For the past two months, they have been hard at work helping our current team (stage director Aria Umezawa and multi-disciplinary creator-performer Teiya Kasahara) build the kind of organization we’ve always envisioned: An organization that empowers audiences to embrace diverse and challenging cultural experiences by placing equity-seeking artists at the centre of public discourse.
